{"id":15133,"date":"2025-08-18T14:45:25","date_gmt":"2025-08-18T18:45:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/plaidoyervictimes.ca\/droits-des-pv\/youth-protection-act\/"},"modified":"2026-04-07T14:50:03","modified_gmt":"2026-04-07T18:50:03","slug":"youth-protection-act","status":"publish","type":"droits-des-pv","link":"https:\/\/plaidoyervictimes.ca\/en\/victims-rights\/youth-protection-act\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth Protection Act"},"content":{"rendered":"\t\t<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"15133\" class=\"elementor elementor-15133 elementor-13078\" data-elementor-post-type=\"droits-des-pv\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-dae207e e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"dae207e\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-53b133a elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"53b133a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Under this law, every child and his or her parent (or legal guardian) have the right to&#8230;<\/p><h3><strong>To be consulted<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>A child and his or her parents have the right to be consulted at every stage of the intervention and in the search for solutions.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Be informed<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>A child and his parents have the right to obtain a description of the means of protection and rehabilitation put forward in the intervention plan, as well as each of the steps planned to end this intervention.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Being heard<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>A child and his or her parents have the right to express their point of view at all stages of the intervention, whether at a pre-hearing conference, at the time of settlement or when they are present in court.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Hiring a lawyer<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>A child and his or her parents each have the right to consult a lawyer and to be assisted and represented by him or her.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Refusal<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>A child and his or her parents have the right to refuse to abide by certain decisions made by the Director of Youth Protection (DYP). In such cases, the situation may be referred to the court. <\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Receive adequate services<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>A child and its parents have the right to receive adequate health and social services. A child also has the right to adequate educational services. <\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Support<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>A child and his parents have the right to be accompanied and assisted by a person of their choice when they wish to obtain information or when they meet with the DYP.<\/li><\/ul><h3><strong>Access to the file<\/strong><\/h3><ul><li>Except in certain special cases, children aged 14 and over and their parents may have access to the file.<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Under this law, every child and his or her parent (or legal guardian) have the right to&#8230; To be consulted A child and his or her parents have the right to be consulted at every stage of the intervention and in the search for solutions.
